The law enforcement agencies and energy officials have intensified their efforts to combat the illicit production of cryptocurrency in Dagestan. Inspections have been conducted in the villages of Maidanskoye, Balakhani, Gimry and Untsukul, during which 35 instances of unauthorized and unmetered electricity usage were uncovered. A significant number of clandestine devices for generating cryptocurrency were seized fr om private residences and 30 suspects were detained on administrative charges.

According to Arsen Gadzhiev, the acting director of the regional branch of Rosseti PJSC, Northern Caucasus — Dagenergo, complaints from the local residents regarding power outages play a crucial role in identifying and dismantling illegal mining operations. The initial operation aimed at combating miners took place in the villages of Balakhani and Maidanskoye in March, wh ere the capacity of transformer substations was exceeded by 60%.
