The Head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, has awarded the "For Courage" medal to a local truck driver, Shamil Gamidov, for helping to neutralize some 30 enemy drones during an attack on a military airfield.

The press service reported that the incident took place on June 1 at the Sredny airfield in Irkutsk region. Gamidov and other locals assisted in destroying the unmanned aerial vehicles, which were launched from a trailer truck targeting Russian aircraft.
Melikov praised Gamidov's "decisive actions" in preventing the drones from striking missile carriers and other planes.

Earlier, the Dagestani leader has enacted a decree banning the publication of any information about the consequences of attacks, as well as data on military deployments and key facility locations.
