Dagestan's energy infrastructure experiences extraordinary strain this summer, Marat Shikhaliev, the region's Minister of Energy and Tariffs says. As to the top official, on July 15-24, daily electricity consumption surpassed historical records on six separate occasions. Notably, July 23rd marked a peak demand of 1,360 MW, representing a 6.8% increase compared to the summer maximum of 2024 and a 14.5% surge from 2023 levels. Analysts attribute this unprecedented energy consumption primarily to the region's unusually high temperatures during the summer months.
