Analysis of the MTS digital ecosystem, utilizing booking data from Bronevik.com, reveals a significant surge in weekend tourist accommodation bookings for Kaspiysk.
The city witnessed a near doubling (98% increase) in weekend bookings over the past year, making it as the leading destination in Russia for short Friday-to-Sunday trips. This trend reflects a broader national pattern: weekend travel bookings have increased by 27% year-on-year, with over a quarter (26%) of all tourist bookings now occurring during these days. The average cost per night for such trips is RUB 5,200.
Kaspiysk's appeal stems from its comparative tranquility compared to busier destinations, coupled with its pleasant climate, developed infrastructure and accessibility. MTS Director in Dagestan, Karema Izieva, attributed the city's rising popularity to its growing digital activity and highlighted MTS's ongoing efforts to expand network coverage and provide high-quality communications for both residents and visitors.
Kaspiysk's remarkable growth outpaced other popular destinations like Arkhyz in Karachay-Cherkessia (+86%) and Sirius resort village in Krasnodar Territory (+83%).
