Summer of 2025 sees a significant increase in the number of tourists opting for beach vacations in Dagestan on the shores of the Caspian Sea. The volume of bookings surged by a remarkable 40%, Sergey Romashkin, vice-president of Russian Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) reports.
This surge in bookings is attributed to the closure of beaches in Anapa, which led to a shift in tourist preferences towards Dagestan. Previously, Dagestan was primarily known for its excursions, with tourists flocking to explore the ancient sites in Derbent along with the natural beauty of the Sulak Canyon. However, this summer has witnessed a growing interest in Dagestan's coastal destinations.
The fans of Anapa’s beaches are in search of alternatives. According to the expert interviewed by Interfax-Tourism, suitable options can be found on the western coast of Crimea, in Feodosia, and on the shores of the Caspian and Azov Seas. Moreover, the expert noted that the town of Yeisk on the Azov Sea has also benefitted from the situation in Anapa, with all hotel rooms already booked for the summer season.
