Eight-year-old Zalmu Indukhova from the village of Batlaich in Dagestan has been commended by Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, for her bravery in rescuing a drowning child. On December 1, 2024, while walking near a lake with her younger sister, Zalmu witnessed a seven-year-old boy fall through the ice. While other children were present, Zalmu was the only one who took action. She and her sister rushed to the lake, extended their reach to the struggling boy and successfully pulled him from the freezing water, averting a potential tragedy.
Zalmu's courageous and decisive actions were recognized by Zapir Yusupov, Deputy Head of Khunzakh interdistrict investigative Department, who personally presented her with a letter of gratitude from Bastrykin. Additionally, investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee across the Republic of Dagestan presented the girls with gifts and expressed their hope for their future success in all their endeavors.
