The crop is cultivated in the region on an area of 13,770 hectares, accounting for 25% of the total Russian production and over 90% of the production in the North Caucasian Federal District.

White cabbage constitutes more than half (50%) of the open-field vegetable production structure in Dagestan. The main producers of cabbage are the vegetable growers of Levashinsky District (6,070 ha), Derbentsky District (2,115 ha) and Akushinsky District (1,518 ha). Besides, vegetable growers in the southern part of Dagestan harvest cabbage year-round.
