Fish farms in Dagestan processed about 337 tons of fish in January 2025, Khadijat Shamkhalova, chairwoman of the republican Fishery Committee says. According to the official, 102 tons of fish were processed in January 2024. This indicator has increased 3.3 times this year.

Fish processing is developing rapidly in the region. In the coastal areas of Dagestan, mini-workshops are being opened to process fish caught and farmed exclusively in the republic. Noteworthy, in 2025 Dagestan plans to process about 6.5 thousand tons of fish. In the current year, fish production is planned to increase by 19.4% to 8 thousand tons.
