MTS Digital Ecosystem, a subsidiary of MTS, has deployed the first eight domestically manufactured base stations in the Republic of Dagestan, extending 4G coverage to a number of rural settlements.
These base stations, produced by IRTEYA, have been integrated into MTS's network across various municipal districts of Dagestan at varying altitudes. Over 30,000 residents of these locations have become the pioneering users of domestic mobile internet services. IRTEI's equipment has been deployed in the settlements with diverse population densities, allowing MTS technicians to evaluate the performance of these new base stations under conditions of high and low traffic loads, as well as under diverse climatic conditions at varying elevations.
The equipment was developed and manufactured by the Russian telecommunications supplier IRTEYA. The design of the base stations is based on the principles of open standards such as Open RAN (Radio Access Network) and the claudication of the radio subsystem. This approach involves processing some of the functionality of the base station in data centers.
These technologies allow for the integration of the equipment into existing networks, which have been built over decades of working with equipment from various manufacturers.
