Dagestan and Azerbaijan develop economic partnership

The delegation of the republic of Dagestan has paid an official visit to Baku to discuss the expansion of interregional collaboration with their Azerbaijani counterparts. The focus of was made on enhancing trade, fostering cultural exchange and developing transportation infrastructure.
Both parties acknowledged the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, particularly in terms of substantial trade turnover that reached $17.47 million in 2024. One of the key areas of cooperation is the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor, which aims to boost cargo flow between the two countries.
To increase the corridor's capacity, a new railway station called Samur-II and a state-of-the-art checkpoint called Derbent are planned for construction on the Russian-Azerbaijani border. These projects are expected to increase capacity to 15 million tons of cargo per year.
Rizvan Gazimagomedov, the deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan, emphasized the long-standing bonds of friendship between the two regions and expressed keen interest in fostering further collaboration.
