Dagestan Implements 80 Land Reclamation Projects

In 2025, eighty land reclamation projects are being implemented across the Republic of Dagestan. The total volume of state support from the federal budget allocated for these purposes amounts to RUB 756.2 million.

It is projected that upon completion of these projects, approximately 5.71 thousand hectares of arable land will be brought into agricultural circulation. This will be achieved through the reconstruction, technical modernization and construction of new reclamation systems, including the implementation of drip irrigation for perennial crops. An additional 6.45 thousand hectares will be introduced into the agricultural circulation through land improvement and development works.

Furthermore, as a result of the reclamation initiatives, about 6.58 thousand hectares of agricultural land are planned to be protected from wind erosion and desertification.

As of early November, 11 hydro-reclamation projects covering an area of 3.71 thousand hectares have already been completed in Dagestan. Additionally, within the framework of 32 projects, land improvement and development works have been finalized, allowing 5.23 thousand hectares to be integrated into the agricultural cycle. Another 9 phyto-reclamation projects, spanning 3.37 thousand hectares, have also been implemented.

The total volume of state support for these completed projects exceeded RUB 459 million, constituting 57.7 percent of the total federal funding for the current year. For the 2026 competitive selection, the republic has submitted 95 land reclamation project proposals to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, with a combined requested funding of over RUB 1.545 billion.
