Preparations are underway in Dagestan for the second International Forum on "Sustainable Development of Mountainous Territories", scheduled to take place in Makhachkala on October 1-3, 2025. The event is anticipated to draw over 300 participants, comprising government representatives, academics, entrepreneurs and international stakeholders.

Dagestan's successful participation in the inaugural forum held in St. Petersburg in 2023, where the republic was lauded as a model for mountainous region development, has been instrumental in securing this hosting opportunity. The Prime Minister of Dagestan highlighted the region's distinctive cultural heritage, traditional crafts, and unique products as key attractions for both domestic and international audiences.

The forum aims to address challenges associated with mountain development, explore adaptation strategies for climate change and emphasize the crucial role of municipalities in sustainable development initiatives. It is anticipated that the event will serve as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among participants.
