The average life expectancy in the republic is more than 79 years. For many years the region has kept the leadership in this sphere occupying the forefront position at preset time. This indicator was influenced by many factors. Among the most important factors is the organization and accessibility of medical care. In particular, geriatric rooms have been opened in different municipalities for the elderly, where senior citizens can receive qualified medical assistance. The nursing rate of newborns has increased and, as a consequence, infant mortality has decreased. Mortality from socially significant diseases also remains at a low level.
