Abdurashid Bagavdinov, a Dagestani sambo wrestler, became the winner of the World Masters Sambo Championship held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The event was open to athletes over 35 years old and was divided into seven age categories. Bagavdinov won a gold medal in the weight category up to 98 kilograms and in the age category over 55. Previously, he had participated in the World Wrestling Championships, where he won gold in the Greco-Roman style and silver in freestyle.
