In preparation for the upcoming Russian Weightlifting Championship in Kaspiysk in March 2026, a high-level delegation fr om the Russian Weightlifting Federation visited Dagestan to assess readiness and strengthen ties. The delegation included Regional Development Director Dmitry Golikov and Olympic silver medalist Dmitry Klokov.

During their visit, the group met with Said Abdulayev, President of Dagestan Weightlifting Federation, to evaluate hosting capabilities. The itinerary also featured a tour of the regional Museum of Sports, wh ere the delegates presented a historic volume chronicling the contributions of weightlifters during the Great Patriotic War.

In a move to cement the sport's legacy, Abdulayev announced plans for a significant collaboration to expand the museum's weightlifting section. This initiative aims to fully showcase the region's rich and growing history in the sport.
