MAKHACHKALA, March 2 – RIA "Dagestan". Reconstruction of the “Leke-dere – Akhty” water pipeline is underway in Dagestan’s Akhtynsky District as part of the Republican Investment Program, with the new section designed to deliver clean drinking water to local settlements. The project draws water from the Lala-dere area and replaces the old intake facility—operational since 1968—that was repeatedly damaged by mudflows and ultimately destroyed in a 2023 disaster. Currently, the contractor “Capital” LLC is laying pipelines through the rural settlements of Zrykh and Khryug under the commission of the Akhtynsky district administration, with completion and full water supply expected by the end of 2027.
