MAKHACHKALA, March 12 – RIA "Dagestan". Under the "Infrastructure for Life" national project, Rosavtodor continues construction of four-lane bypass roads around Dagestan's largest cities to divert transit traffic, enhance road safety and improve the environmental situation in urban areas.
The 21-kilometer Khasavyurt bypass will feature full lighting and concrete barrier railings. A 9-kilometer section from the Chechen border was opened in May 2025, while work continues on the remaining 12 kilometers bypassing residential zones. This segment includes three interchanges, five overpasses, a bridge across the Yaryk-Su River and separate cattle passes.
The 33-kilometer Derbent bypass is designed with four two-level interchanges, four overpasses, two elevated roads, two bridges, and two tunnels. Current construction activities focus on foundation work for supports and earthworks.
For the Northern bypass of Makhachkala, project documentation has been finalized and tender procedures launched for the third construction stage—a planned overpass near Tyube settlement to replace a railway crossing. All these infrastructure projects aim to reduce traffic congestion in city centers, improve transportation efficiency and support sustainable urban development across the republic.
