The financial losses inflicted by illicit mining activities in Dagestan over the past year amounted to more than RUB 350 million. According to Marat Shikhaliyev, the regional Minister of Energy and Tariffs of the republic of Dagestan, 86 million kWh of electricity was pilfered. These figures represent only those instances that have been brought to light.
