MAKHACHKALA, August 20 – RIA Dagestan. Dagestan retail network has grown well beyond expectations. By August 2026, the number of outlets across the republic reached 16,554 — a figure 1.7 times higher than the federal standard, which, adjusted for population, calls for just under 9,300 outlets.
Even in the grocery segment alone, supply exceeds the standard by 6%, a surplus that officials say helps guarantee access to shops for people living in the most remote municipalities. Non-stationary retail is also thriving: with 2,015 such facilities in operation, the republic is running 5.1% above the required level, according to the Dagestan Ministry of Industry and Trade.
