MAKHACHKALA, March 31 – RIA Dagestan. Dagestan expects to harvest its first olives within three years, Ruslan Abaskuliev, Director of the republic's Export Support Center said commenting on a joint project to establish an olive grove in the region.
The investment project, as previously reported, includes the creation of a 50-hectare olive grove and the construction of an olive processing facility.
The Head of the Republic Sergei Melikov backed the initiative, highlighting the growing market demand for olive oil.
A related agreement was signed with the company ISFA at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Total investment in the project is estimated at RUB 300 million, with the initiative expected to create approximately 100 new jobs in the region.
