MAKHACHKALA, September 23 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan aims to produce 15,700 tons of wool in 2026, a target announced by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Rizvan Gazimagomedov during a strategic meeting on the Russian wool market in Moscow. Chaired by First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin, the session focused on implementing a comprehensive roadmap to expand raw material processing, improve quality and stimulate stable demand for finished products. Highlighting the republic's leading role in the national industry, Gazimagomedov projected a steady increase in output from 14,500 tons in 2025 to an estimated 16,200 tons by 2027.
Driven by RUB 343.6 million in investments and preferential financing, a newly formed eight-enterprise cluster plans to generate 147 jobs, further bolstered by RUB 84.2 million in state support allocated for production development in 2026. The benefits of this enhanced processing capacity are evident in the output of Kavkazskaya Sherst, which has manufactured 12,000 quilted blankets and over 13,600 school vests, selling more than 10,000 vests and securing a massive new order for 35,000 more.
Wrapping up the session, the attendees committed to advancing a fresh strategic roadmap that will dictate the next phases of growth for the national wool industry.
