Dagestan Exports 11,000 Head of Livestock to Foreign Countries

MAKHACHKALA, May 7 – RIA "Dagestan." In the first quarter of 2026, Dagestani enterprises exported more than 5,000 head of small ruminants and 6,000 head of cattle to foreign markets. Apart from live animals, the republic shipped 249 tons of lamb, 270 tons of fish and 21 tons of wool between January and March.

The republic also expands exports of crop production: 730 tons of rice and rice groats were shipped to Turkey, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan during the quarter. The ministry highlighted Dagestan's significant potential in rice production and noted growing demand for local rice in neighboring markets. Key export partners include Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, India, and Jordan, with shipments also reaching Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Lebanon, the UAE, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.

According to the Rosselkhoznadzor Directorate for the Republic of Dagestan (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance across Dagestan), Dagestan exported 56,000 head of livestock in 2025 (40,800 small ruminants and 15,500 cattle). Over the past five years, total agricultural exports from the republic have grown 2.6-fold, reaching $150 million—reflecting the region's increasing integration into international agricultural supply chains and the growing competitiveness of Dagestani products abroad.
