Dagestan Fish Catch Falls 33.6% in First Nine Months of 2026

MAKHACHKALA, October 12 – RIA "Dagestan". According to the North Caucasian Territorial Directorate of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, Dagestan’s total fish catch for January–September 2026 amounted to 15,800 tons, representing a 33.6% year-on-year decline compared to the 23,800 tons harvested during the same period in 2025.

The common kilka remained the primary commercial species, accounting for 13,300 tons, though its volume decreased by 35.7% relative to the previous year.

The Directorate attributes this reduction across most key aquatic biological resources primarily to adverse weather conditions.

Prior figures reveal that regional breeding enterprises generated 7,010 tons of commercial product during the first eight months of 2026.
