MAKHACHKALA, February 16 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan-based enterprise POSH LLC, operating under the Enjoy Food brand, plans to establish an olive grove covering up to 160 hectares in Derbent District and launch Russia's first industrial-scale production of olive oil without added preservatives.
A pilot cultivation site in the district has confirms that local climatic conditions are suitable for olive growing. Saplings of seven varieties have already begun fruiting successfully and the initial harvest is currently being sold through retail outlets and agricultural exhibitions.
Apart from olive cultivation, the company intends to produce preserved olives and olive oil without vinegar, aiming for a flavor profile comparable to Spanish products. The total investment in the project is estimated at RUB 300 million.
