MAKHACHKALA, July 9 – RIA "Dagestan". An interdepartmental working group, led by Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan Rizvan Gazimagomedov, recently visited Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port to examine its large-scale technological reboot. The on-site meeting focused on developing actionable steps for the comprehensive reconstruction of the port's main infrastructure. Prior to their discussions, the delegation inspected various facilities, including the dry cargo harbor berths and the ship repair yard. They also monitored the ongoing construction of a new access road and a high-tech grain terminal to determine which areas require immediate renewal.
Dzhamal Aliyev, the Director General of JSC "MSCP" delivered a comprehensive report on ongoing development initiatives, highlighting the extensive modernization of the berthing front, the upgrading of railway infrastructure and the enhancement of road access. The group also prioritized the overhaul of the port's life support systems.
Meeting participants discussed the need for a reliable, modernized power supply system, the reconstruction of stormwater drainage from the ship repair yard to the railway station and the removal of regulatory hurdles slowing technological progress. As a result of the discussions, targeted instructions will be issued to speed up the modernization efforts at Russia's sole ice-free port on the Caspian Sea.
