The production of mutton in the North Caucasian region witnesses significant growth over the past year, with Dagestan emerging as the leading producer.
The North Caucasian Federal District now accounts for 36% of Russia's total mutton output, reflecting a 6% year-on-year increase to 46.4 thousand tons. This positive trend is attributed to contributions from various agricultural sectors. Agricultural organizations produced 8 thousand tons (+25%), personal subsidiary farms contributed 17.5 thousand tons (+1%), and farmers generated approximately 21 thousand tons (+3%).
Within the North Caucasian region, Dagestan leads with a production volume of nearly 14 thousand tons (30% of the total). Stavropol Territory follows closely behind with 9.7 thousand tons (21%), while Karachay-Cherkessia secured the third position with 8.2 thousand tons (18%). Notably, Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria exhibited the most substantial growth rates in the region, reaching 19% and 21%, respectively.
