MAKHACHKALA, June 5 – RIA Dagestan. A familiarization tour for tourism industry professionals from across Russia has begun in Dagestan. The program brought a group of travel agents from the federal tour operator Pegas Touristik to the republic, with participants arriving from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, Saratov, Nefteyugansk, Samara and Novorossiysk.
The tour is intended to present the region's tourism capabilities—its sights, excursion routes and accommodation options—to industry specialists. To date, participants have explored the hotel infrastructure in Makhachkala and Kaspiysk and visited the Sulak Canyon and "Glavryba". A key focus of the program is Southern Dagestan; guests will soon head to Akhtynsky District and Derbent to inspect lodging facilities, guided routes and the most visited tourist spots.
The delegation includes Ekaterina Davydenko, a MICE (business and event tourism) specialist at Pegas Touristik. According to her, Dagestan has big potential for the development of corporate, business and event tourism due to its unique combination of natural attractions, rich cultural and historical heritage and actively developing infrastructure.
Following the first days of their stay, the participants highly evaluated the republic's readiness to receive guests, the level of development of the tourism industry and the quality of services.
