MAKHACHKALA, June 5 – RIA Dagestan. At SPIEF-2026, Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port entered into an agreement with Kazakhstan's port of Kuryk. Jamal Aliyev, Director of Makhachkala port and Medina Turlan Duiseshuly, Executive Director for Marketing and Logistics, took part in the signing ceremony. The parties intend to establish car ferry links between the two ports in the near future.
According to Jamal Aliyev, large freight flows move from China across Central Asia to the western Caspian shoreline, while back-haul cargo from other countries could transit through Makhachkala. The plan, he explained, is to channel these shipments through both ports and to vigorously build up the route. The freshly signed agreement will expand logistics options and cut the Makhachkala–China journey via Kazakhstan, which should reinforce regional economic links and raise the effectiveness of cargo operations in the Caspian Sea.
