MAKHACHKALA, October 13 – RIA "Dagestan". The Municipality of Makhachkala has initiated a four-week operational pilot for electric bus integration, mandated by Mayor Dzhambulat Salavov. The test unit is assigned to Route No. 5—a corridor formerly designated for trolleybus operations—to facilitate comparative performance benchmarking against legacy electric transit infrastructure.
Post-trial analytics will inform procurement decisions, with a conditional plan to acquire ten vehicles in the subsequent fiscal year contingent upon positive KPI outcomes. M-Trans Director Magomed Bulatkhanov confirmed fare-free Sundays throughout the pilot period as a mayoral incentive to drive adoption and gather users’ feedback.
