Oil Drives 42.5% Growth at Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port

MAKHACHKALA, September 1 – RIA "Dagestan". Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port handled 2.9 million tons of cargo in January–August 2026, a 42.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Oil transshipment was the key growth driver, surpassing 2 million tons — up almost 50% year-on-year.

Dry cargo transshipment also showed solid growth, rising 26.8% to 820 thousand tons. Grain transshipment was 2.5 times higher than a year earlier, reaching just under 200 thousand tons.
