MAKHACHKALA, March 6 – RIA "Dagestan". Major repairs are underway on a 15-kilometer section of the "Glavny Sulak – Novaya Kosa – Staroterechnaya – Kraynovka" highway in Dagestan's Kizlyarsky and Babayurtovsky districts as part of the "Infrastructure for Life" national project.
The road provides direct access to federal highway R-215 and leads to Agrakhansky federal nature reserve—a unique habitat for rare animal and bird species. The upgraded infrastructure is also expected to boost development of the local fishing industry.
Contractors have commenced work that includes route restoration and stabilization, grading and roadbed construction, laying crushed stone-gravel-sand mixtures for lower and upper layers, applying two-layer asphalt concrete pavement, installing culverts, reinforcing shoulders, arranging intersections and junctions, setting up bus stops, mounting road signs, barrier railings and guide posts and applying road markings.
The project is scheduled for completion and commissioning by the end of October 2027.
