MAKHACHKALA, July 13 – RIA "Dagestan". The "Glavsulak – Novaya Kosa – Staroterechnaya – Krainovka" road is being overhauled as part of the "Infrastructure for Life" national target project, with work on the 15-kilometer segment (km 66–81) reaching 30 percent completion.
According to Dagestan Transport Ministry, the current focus is on preparing the subgrade and pavement, with one kilometer of the lower asphalt course already laid and culvert construction underway. The project scope covers restoring and stabilizing the roadway, forming the subgrade, applying two layers of asphalt concrete, placing culverts, strengthening shoulders, building bus stops and installing signage, guardrails and markings.
The highway serves the coastal areas of Babayurtovsky and Kizlyarsky districts, connects to the federal R-215 route and leads to the Agrakhansky nature reserve, an area known for its biodiversity. The modernization will improve access to these natural sites for residents and tourists alike and support the growth of ecotourism. The renovated section is scheduled to open by late October 2027.
