Solar Power Plant "AkhTsakh" with Energy Storage Launched in Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA, June 2 – RIA Dagestan. The "AkhTsakh" solar power plant, with a capacity of 1 MW and an energy storage system rated at 2.1 MWh, has been commissioned in Dagestan. Designed to generate roughly 1.5 million kilowatt-hours per year, the facility was completed within a five-month period.

As to Artur Alibekov, Director General of SamurEnergy, the plant differs from traditional solar stations in its mode of operation: while standard solar generation is weather-dependent and limited to daylight hours, "AkhTsakh" accumulates energy during the day and releases it into the grid at times of peak evening consumption, thereby contributing to grid stability.

The company considers the solar-plus-storage format to be ideal for remote locations facing peak capacity shortages and plans to roll it out across southern Russia.
