Train Passenger Traffic in Dagestan Increases 2.2 Times Over 5 Years

MAKHACHKALA, February 27 – RIA "Dagestan". In 2025, Dagestan authorities commissioned two new commuter trains, bringing the total number of modern units in operation to six and added 12 new stopping points across the network in response to public demand. According to Magomed Tagirov, the Acting Minister of Transport and Road Facilities, passenger numbers have more than doubled since 2020—rising from 1.055 million to 2.361 million—thanks to targeted improvements such as faster travel times, additional trips and expanded train compositions from 4 to 6 cars.
