DERBENT, August 26 – RIA Dagestan. Approximately 20,000 people attended the third "NARMA" contemporary art festival in Derbent, held August 21–23 across 18 venues with 56 cultural and educational events.
More than 80 artists, curators, musicians, and creative industry representatives from cities including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Makhachkala and Derbent took part in this year's program, themed "Navigation of Attention".
The central venue, Suleyman Stalsky Park, featured the total installation "Oasis of Time" by Asiya Bareeva and the video installation "Caspian" by Maxim Silenkov. Both projects were initiated by Kavkaz.RF and are connected to the Caspian Coastal Cluster project.
At Derbent Vino plant, located near the 6th-century Northern Fortress Wall, video art and sound installations were integrated directly into production workshops. A special tour route, "Art Caravan: The Great Silk Road", linked historical monuments with new architectural landmarks.
As to Deputy Tourism Minister Magomed Khabibullaev, the festival reveals the city's heritage in a new way and promotes cultural and educational tourism in Dagestan.
