MOSCOW, July 14 – RIA "Dagestan". Kubachi Art Combine has been named a laureate of the 1st National Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of folk arts and crafts, winning the "Best Place of Traditional Existence of Folk Arts and Crafts" nomination.
The award was presented at the Federation Council by Chairperson Valentina Matvienko and Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, with Acting Minister for Tourism and Folk Arts and Crafts of Dagestan Emin Merdanov in attendance.
This federal recognition affirms Kubachi’s status as a premier center of artistic metalworking and supports its tourism potential. Matvienko underlined the big role of such enterprises in preserving cultural heritage, creating jobs and driving regional development.
Kubachi, officially designated a place of traditional existence by republican decree in February 2026, outperformed 12 other finalists. Combine Director Murad Gadzhiyakhyaev called the win a major stimulus for future growth, while the prize itself, established in May 2026, aims to support and popularize traditional crafts nationwide across ten nominations.
