Dagestan Showcases Tourism Potential to Central Asian and Gulf Delegates

MAKHACHKALA, June 3 – RIA Dagestan. Dagestan has launched the "Salam, Dagestan!" informational tour for representatives of the tourism sector from Central Asian and Gulf countries. The project is run by the Dagestan Ministry of Tourism and Folk-Art Crafts with the support of the Tourism Center of the Republic of Dagestan and seeks to build international cooperation and market the region's tourism assets overseas.

During the week-long program, participants will inspect accommodation facilities in Makhachkala, Kaspiysk and Derbent, and visit the "Kaspiy" sanatorium. The itinerary takes in the Sulak Canyon, Chirkey Reservoir, the "Salatau" cave complex, the Sarykum dune, the Naryn-Kala citadel, the Juma Mosques of Makhachkala and Derbent as well as landmarks in Gunibsky District.

Dagestan's folk crafts are a focal point of the program, with hands-on sessions in Uncukul metal inlay on wood and traditional carpet weaving. Guests will also have a chance to sample national cuisine and learn about local culinary customs. The tour will wrap up with a meeting at the Ministry of Tourism and Folk Artistic Crafts to sum up the results and discuss prospects for further collaboration.
