Antimonopoly Oversight Promised as Shchukin Addresses Fuel Pricing

MAKHACHKALA, June 23 – RIA "Dagestan". The Acting Head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin, has commented on the current state of the regional fuel market, assuring the public that the situation is under his personal control. The top official explained that the fuel shortage was a broader issue affecting several other regions of the country, not just Dagestan. To address the challenge, the republican government has petitioned federal authorities, with work currently in progress to secure a stable and predictable fuel supply.

Commenting on fuel pricing, Shchukin remarked that prices were determined by private businesses, but antimonopoly authorities would examine any unjustified price rises. Further he affirmed that every baseless price rise would be curbed, describing fuel speculation as an act that harms one's fellow citizens.

The governor also brought safety at petrol stations into focus, stressing that the protection of residents was paramount and that authorities were responsible for enforcing full compliance with safety standards and regulations at every station.

“The republican authorities continue to closely monitor the fuel sector and work together with federal bodies to bring back market stability” – Shchukin added.
