Dagestan Accelerates Construction of Waste Management Infrastructure

MAKHACHKALA, September 3 – RIA "Dagestan". Three waste sorting complexes and three landfills are under construction in Dagestan as part of the transition to a new municipal solid waste management system, officials reported at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Magomed Ramazanov.

Facilities in Derbentsky and Kumtorkalinsky districts are scheduled for industrial operation in 2027, with construction in Khasavyurtovsky District expected to finish in the second quarter of 2027.

As to acting Natural Resources Minister Ratmir Rasulov, the infrastructure development is the key step toward the new system. Deputy Minister Saniyat Bilalova presented the construction progress report.

Ramazanov stressed the need for a continuous chain from waste collection to disposal and set a target of at least 500 new container sites by year-end, along with regular washing and disinfection.
