MAKHACHKALA, September 1 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan authorities have established a temporary operational headquarters to address mounting fuel supply problems, Acting Head of the Republic Fyodor Shchukin announced following a meeting with relevant agencies.
The headquarters will monitor fuel availability and movement, control retail price justification and develop measures to prevent supply disruptions. Shchukin instructed officials to ensure stable supplies and address previously identified violations at petrol stations.
"The headquarters will operate until the severity of the issue subsides. We need to work proactively" the regional governor said.
The fuel shortage in Dagestan is predominantly local in nature, with the most acute situation observed in Makhachkala and Kaspiysk, while remote districts remain largely stable. Disruptions at oil refineries, delayed shipments from producers, forced purchases through intermediaries at inflated prices, and substantial logistics costs are compounding Dagestan's fuel problems, Acting Head of the Republic Fyodor Shchukin said. He acknowledged that the overall situation remains tense, characterized by reduced supply volumes, rising retail prices and temporary closures of individual petrol stations.
