MAKHACHKALA, September 28 – RIA "Dagestan". The Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan, Abdurakhman Makhmudov, presided over a meeting of the Coordination Council dedicated to the implementation of state family policy in the republic.
According to data presented at the session, 141,327 large families were on record in Dagestan. Meanwhile, 2,134 orphaned children and children left without parental care were being brought up in substitute families. Officials highlighted that this figure had fallen by 30% in recent years, decreasing from 3,061 in 2024 to 2,134 in 2026.
The Council members also reviewed financial support measures. Families with disabled children had received RUB 80.4 million in housing and utility compensation, while large families had been allocated RUB 58.7 million for the same purpose. One-time payments for gas equipment installation had been disbursed to 93 families, totalling RUB 7.8 million. Besides, 3,801 families had benefited from state assistance through social contracts. Educational compensation had been provided to 42 low-income families for 46 children, and monthly child allowances had been issued to 198 families.
Officials also highlighted the success of the initiative providing free access to state cultural venues for large families and relatives of SMO (Special Military Operation) participants. Looking ahead, the launch of children's cultural and educational centres within existing cultural facilities is slated for October 2026.
On the sports front, infrastructure expansion continues. Currently, twelve GTO fitness testing sites are being fitted out, and four smart sports courts along with a universal modular gym are being set up in the settlement of Karaman. Meanwhile, construction has officially kicked off on two physical fitness and wellness complexes in the villages of Botlikh and Karamakhi. Overall, authorities plan to build and renovate a total of 18 sports facilities, as well as open new centres focused on early childhood physical development.
