For a period of two weeks, spanning from February 1st to February 16th, the Rosselkhoznadzor (the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) department across the Republic of Dagestan conducted thorough inspections of over 81,000 tons of fruit and vegetable products imported through the Yarag-Kazmalyar and Tagirkent-Kazmalyar border crossings.
These shipments, comprising a total of 4,680 individual consignments, originated from diverse countries such as Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. The cargo included a substantial quantity of fresh produce, including:
- Over 5,600 tons of tomatoes;
- 9,400 tons of persimmons;
- 4,700 tons of apples, all originating from Azerbaijan.
- Additionally, there were:
- 12,200 tons of peppers;
- 4,300 tons of kiwis;
- 6,600 tons of lettuce, all imported from Iran.
- Furthermore, 1,300 tons of tomatoes and 670 kilograms of pomegranates were sourced from Turkey.
Following rigorous inspections, two shipments were returned to their respective consignees due to non-compliance with regulations. Moreover, Rosselkhoznadzor conducted inspections on 46 shipments of cargo in transit.
