At the "Open Dagestan" tourism forum, the Republic of Dagestan showcased its aspirations to become a leading tourist destination within the North Caucasus region.  Dagestan Ministry of Tourism proposed a novel collaborative framework for the North Caucasian Federal District, aiming to leverage its strengths and resources for mutual benefit.

Emin Merdanov, Minister of Tourism and Folk Arts of Dagestan, outlined region’s readiness to assume key roles in this partnership: serving as a marketing and promotional platform, a transportation and logistics hub, a coordinator for route development, an investment magnet, a center for expertise dissemination, and a business incubator.

During the forum's plenary session titled "Dagestan — the tourist hub of the Northern Caucasus: new routes, investments and partnerships", Merdanov emphasized the potential for the North Caucasian Federal District regions to collectively establish a robust tourism ecosystem. This integrated system would deliver multifaceted benefits: tourists would enjoy high-quality and secure travel experiences, businesses would unlock fresh opportunities and markets, and regions would witness increased employment and income generation.

Sergei Melikov, Head of the Republic of Dagestan, underscored the pivotal role of tourism in the region's socio-economic advancement. The governor highlighted capacity of tourism to stimulate municipal revenue, foster agricultural development, construction, transportation and service industries. Melikov further emphasized that each new tourist route translates into job creation, investment influx, and brighter prospects for Dagestan residents.
