MAKHACHKALA, February 18 – RIA "Dagestan". Asiyat Aliyeva, Chairperson of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management, Ecology and Environmental Protection of the People's Assembly of Dagestan, announced forthcoming amendments to the regional law "On the Protection of Atmospheric Air". The draft legislation, introduced by deputies of the People's Assembly, has been developed to align regional regulations with Federal Law No. 548-FZ on the hydrometeorological service and atmospheric air protection and is scheduled for first reading at the February session.

The principal amendment concerns measures to reduce pollutant emissions during adverse meteorological conditions. Under the proposed changes, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs operating facilities in categories I, II, and III will be required to develop and approve emission reduction action plans. These plans must be coordinated with the executive authority responsible for regional state environmental oversight.

According to Aliyeva, the draft law aims to enhance the effectiveness of air pollution control measures during unfavorable weather conditions and to clarify the responsibilities of businesses and individuals for compliance with environmental legislation.
