MAKHACHKALA, September 18 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan authorities plan to complete restoration of flood-damaged reclamation facilities by the end of October, Chairman of the Republic's Government Magomed Ramazanov said at a meeting of the Government Commission chaired by Russian Natural Resources Minister Alexander Kozlov.
Of the 62 reclamation facilities damaged during the spring emergency, 48 have been fully restored, with work continuing on the remaining 14. Total damage amounted to around RUB 488 million.
The top official emphasized the importance of reclamation infrastructure for agriculture and the need for advance flood protection. A newly approved preventive infrastructure plan for the 2026–2029 period outlines 36 distinct projects aimed at the construction and major renovation of hydraulic structures, riverbank protection, and dredging operations along the Terek, Aksai, Aktash, Samur, and other waterways. Encompassing a total operational length of 164.48 kilometers, the broader strategy also incorporates four specific measures funded at RUB 721.8 million through Dagestan Ministry of Natural Resources, with all relevant contracts signed and fieldwork currently in progress.
Payments to flood victims continue, with 88,800 citizens receiving more than RUB 3.4 billion in assistance.
