MAKHACHKALA, August 21 – RIA Dagestan. More than 1.2 million tons of roughage have been harvested in Dagestan in 2026. By the end of the forage harvesting campaign, this figure is expected to reach 1.6 million tons.

Dagestan Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Shamil Dzhamalov joined a federal videoconference hosted by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture to review the progress of the 2026–2027 forage harvesting campaign. In 2026, Dagestan expanded its forage crop area by almost 16,000 hectares compared with last year, bringing the total to more than 150,000 hectares. As of now, farms in the republic have harvested over 1.2 million tons of roughage, with a target of 1.6 million tons by the end of the campaign.

The meeting also looked at grain and legume supplies for livestock and compound feed production. According to the Ministry official, Dagestan's expected gross grain harvest is 358,500 tons, while domestic demand exceeds one million tons.
