MAKHACHKALA, October 1 – RIA "Dagestan". Lawmakers in Dagestan have officially set the date for the republic's next leadership election. During a session of the Eighth Convocation of the People's Assembly, deputies unanimously voted to hold the election for the Head of the Republic on October 15, 2026.
The vote follows President Vladimir Putin’s submission of three candidates for the region's top post. The presidential shortlist includes Samir Abdulkhalikov, a deputy in the regional People's Assembly; Kamil Davdiev, the Deputy Chairman of the People's Assembly; and the current Acting Head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin.
