Putin Nominates Three Candidates to Lead Dagestan, Including Acting Head Shchukin

MAKHACHKALA, September 23 – RIA "Dagestan". Acting Head Fyodor Shchukin is among three candidates nominated by Russian President Vladimir Putin to lead the Republic of Dagestan. The presidential shortlist submitted to the regional People's Assembly also includes Kamil Davdiev, the deputy chairman of the regional Parliament and Samir Abdulkhalikov, who leads the local Communist Party faction. Members of the regional parliament will gather on October 15 to vote on the nominations and formally elect the republican governor.
