DERBENT DISTRICT, April 23 – RIA "Dagestan. A delegation of federal and regional government officials arrived in the settlement of Mamedkala in Derbent District to inspect facilities damaged by recent flooding. Key sites under review include the aqueduct on the Darvagchay River and a section of the Samur-Derbent Canal, where damage to hydraulic structures has been documented.
The inspection team includes Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrey Razin; Dagestan Deputy Prime Minister Nariman Abdumulalibov; Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Dagmeliovodkhoz Directorate" Magomed Yusupov, and other officials. During the site visit, the top officials assessed the extent of the damage and discussed immediate steps to restore the hydraulic infrastructure and establish temporary water supply arrangements.
Notably, the Samur-Derbent irrigation canal is a critical component of southern Dagestan's melioration system. It supplies water to more than 10,300 hectares of agricultural land—including large-scale farms and vineyards. Its reliable operation is essential for the upcoming irrigation season. Currently, the FSBI "Dagmeliovodkhoz Directorate" continues operating under heightened readiness protocols.
