MOSCOW, April 30 – RIA "Dagestan". According to reports citing RIA Novosti, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with representatives of Dagestan People's Assembly to discuss the selection of the region's next governor. During consultations, Dagestani representatives proposed two candidates: Fyodor Shchukin (current Chairman of the Republican Supreme Court) as Head of the Republic and Magomed Ramazanov (current deputy Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District) as Prime Minister.
The proposals were submitted under established appointment procedures, with final decisions resting with the President after reviewing candidate qualifications and regional consultation outcomes. The region's acting leader Sergei Melikov will take on a different assignment – President said.
